The evidence
Nasal strips aren't a new fad. Here's what the NHS says and what researchers have measured.
The NHS snoring page lists strips or nasal dilators that hold your nose open while you sleep as a treatment for snoring caused by a blocked or narrow nose.
Using acoustic rhinometry, which maps the inside of the nose with sound waves, researchers found a nasal dilator strip widened the nasal valve, the narrowest point of the airway, from 0.52 to 0.77 cm² across 32 nasal passages.

These findings are about nasal breathing, mouth taping and nasal strips in general. They aren't tests of our products, and the NHS and the researchers don't endorse any brand. Mouth tape isn't a treatment for sleep apnoea: if you snore loudly, stop breathing in your sleep or feel exhausted during the day, see your GP.
Nasal strips vs decongestant sprays
Decongestant sprays shrink swelling with medicine, and the NHS says not to use them for more than 5 days at a time. A nasal strip simply lifts your nose open, night after night.

The guide
Nasal strips, also called nose strips, nose breathing strips, nose tape or nasal bands, are thin, flexible bands that sit across the bridge of your nose. A gentle spring inside lifts the sides of your nose and opens your nasal passages, so air flows through more easily. Use them as nose strips for breathing at night or during exercise. No drugs, no gadgets.
The narrowest part of your airway is just inside the tip of your nose, an area called the nasal valve. As the strip tries to straighten, it lifts the skin on either side and widens that gap. In one lab study, a nasal dilator strip widened the nasal valve from 0.52 to 0.77 cm². See the research.
If a blocked or narrow nose is behind your snoring, they can. The NHS lists strips that hold your nose open while you sleep as a treatment for snoring caused by a blocked nose. If you snore because you breathe through your mouth, pair them with mouth tape.
Plenty of people wear nasal strips for running, cycling and the gym as well as for sleep. Ours use a sweat-resistant adhesive, so they stay put when you warm up.
Nasal strips are an external nasal dilator, sometimes called a nose opener. They work on the outside of your nose, so there's nothing to put inside your nostrils and nothing to swallow. Decongestant sprays shrink swollen tissue instead, but the NHS says not to use them for more than 5 days at a time. Internal nasal dilators do a similar job to strips from inside the nostrils.
Wash and dry your nose and skip the moisturiser. Peel off the backing, centre the strip across the bridge of your nose and press the ends down gently. Each strip stays on for up to 12 hours, and one size fits most adults.

Most adults can. They're not suitable for children under 5. If you have asthma, COPD or another medical condition, have a word with your GP first.
Yes, and we'd recommend it. The strip opens up your nose, the tape keeps your lips closed, and you stay breathing through your nose all night.
